Overcomer or Coward?

Overcomers go to heaven; cowards go to hell.  Sounds cold and harsh?  No, just the facts of life from the word of God.  We have been drafted to this holy purpose from the beginning of time. (In Montana speak, we’ve been deputized into God’s posse!). Is it scary? No, because we know the outcome.

Revelation chapter 21 says, “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But for the cowardly and unbelieving …, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

We live on a battleground where two kingdoms collide.  Overcomers know there is a battle for the lives of the lost, and they are bold, and they are engaged, and they fight with supernatural weapons. It is a battle of principalities: Eph 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. ”

Overcomers are bold: they have not a spirit of wimpyness, but of power and love:  2 Tim 1:7-9 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” We are to testify unashamedly of what God has done on the cross ; we don’t work at this just by human means, but by the power of God, by which the end is known and sure: death is abolished and eternal life is assured.

Overcomers are empowered by the Holy Spirit who is within us and comes upon us.  This calling is not to sell the gospel, nor to convince people through “persuasive words of wisdom” (1 Corinthians 2:4) , Four Spiritual Laws, Roman Road, or fancy oratory unless the Spirit of God is wrapped around the very words. This calling is “in demonstration of the Spirit and of power”, and of course of love, His love flowing through us.

Be bold, do not fear; I am with you! I have given you all that you need by my Spirit, armor, weapons, spiritual gifts, anointing, and I have secured the victory beforehand!, sayeth the Lord.

And by the way, there is no collateral damage, just collateral blessing.  And losses are just temporary, like a video game, we get up and get another life, an eternal one. Go get ’em!
