The Holy Spirit Has a Sense of Humor

The Holy Spirit cleared her throat to get my attention, and asked me why I wasn’t applying the insite she had imparted to me. I was pondering the passage in Ephesians chapter 6 in preparation for a home group we’re leading for the church we attend. Continue reading

Reading the Bible “In the Spirit”

After more than thirty years of listening to many preachers, one year of Biblical Studies, years of study on my own, and more important, many, many years of a life journey with God – all three of him! – the Bible is coming alive with fresh meaning and excitement! So, if you feel that your Bible reading leaves you kind of feeling lukewarm, you’re not alone, but I think you’ll be encouraged. There’s a “trick” to it. Continue reading

Impregnated by the Spirit

This moment of impregnation, of baptism by fire or Holy Spirit, is precious and can be very powerful and life-changing, just as it was to Mary. Continue reading

“Reset” was the word I got for the year 2017. As the word unfolded, I learned it meant all that the year of jubilee meant in the Old Testament. People were set free from whatever bondage beset them. Their property was returned to its rightful owners. and rest and restoration took place for a full year, while the people lived from the bountiful grace of God. In terms of institutions, whatever is illegitimate, whatever is abusive, whatever is unjust or unwise shall be torn down, and what is good and wise shall take its place.

The Eye of the Hurricane

The eye of the hurricane is a place of calm in the midst of turmoil. Where do we find that “place” of peace in life’s unrelenting storms? The eye is a reflection in our time-space continuum of something much more powerful in the realm of the spirit. Continue reading

Life Is like a Hurricane

What is a successful life? Will we ever regret not having made more money or garnered more fame? Why is life like a series of storms with just a few short days of serene skies? What if the only thing that counts is our response to adversity and suffering? Continue reading

“God Is Love” (1 John 4:6)

How can a “monolithic” God be love? I don’t think he can. Because love must have an object, a lover needs another lover. Thus, if John is right, that God is love, it makes sense that God is “on essence, … Continue reading

Can God Fix Computers?

Can God fix a computer? Einstein said, there are two kinds of people: those who believe everything is a miracle and those who don’t believe miracles exist. Continue reading

Big Bang AND Creation

Our world consists of bits or pixels, much like a TV show. It appears to be analog or continuous, but in reality it may be said to be more binary in its makeup. The Big Bang theory for the genesis of our universe may just be a close conceptual approximation of the moment of creation. God is “bigger” that we could ever imagine. Continue reading

Prophets and Quantum Physicists

Science and religion should be lovers. Instead they are suspicious, jealous and estranged. Yet God could be an amazing source of inspiration for science, and science should be a way for Christians to grow in faith as science works to reveal the invisible world of God’s creation. All it takes is an open mind, and open and willing heart. Continue reading
